Passion Started with a Paper Route – An Anecdote From David

We all set goals in life. Many are financial or have a financial component to achieving them. No matter our age or income, we plan.

I got my first job when I was ten years old working a paper route. Each week I counted my hard-earned dollars and saved up for the hottest toy at the time, a Nintendo 64. I also needed a few games and four controllers so all three of my siblings could play together. It took months of early weekends, hands stained black from the ink of the papers as I rolled them tightly with rubber bands. I’d ride my bike up and down the city blocks with my route bag (which was nearly as large as I was) taking care with each paper that it be delivered cleanly to its owner. Each month after collection, I’d empty my bank and spread the contents across my bedroom floor, arranging the coins in piles and taking a full account of my progress. Finally, I had enough! I proudly presented my earnings to the clerk at Toys R’ Us and walked out with my prize. I still remember the sense of accomplishment I felt from setting a goal, working hard, saving carefully, and finally achieving it.

I had an interest in planning and finance from a very early age. It is a true joy and my life’s passion to help my community members set smart goals and plan the steps needed to make them a reality. I look forward to learning more about your unique circumstances and objectives.
